Arnhild Lauweng was born in 1972. PhD in Psychology, practicing clinical psychologist. At the age of seventeen she was sent to a psychiatric hospital with a diagnosis of schizophrenia. The next ten years of her life were a series of voluntary and involuntary hospitalizations. She was last hospitalized at the age of 26. Arnhild completely overcame schizophrenia and today is able to talk about the illness both as a professional psychologist and as a former patient. She immerses us in a world of voices and hallucinations, where she is haunted by an army of rats and wolves with burning yellow eyes gnashing their salivating mouths. She uncovers the inner logic and meaning behind mistaken perceptions and symptoms. This book chronicles her struggle with the disease. Patient Arnhild recounts her experiences, the doctors' attempts to contact her and her experiences, and the support of her loved ones who, against all odds, never gave up hope. Psychologist Arnhild analyzes the methods doctors used and explains their success or failure. The unique experience of a cured person, the description of the disease "from the inside" is of great interest to psychiatrists, psychologists, sick people and their relatives, and the general reader. The artistic manner of presentation, the penetration with which the book is written, makes the reading exciting. This is an amazing story of a victory that few people believed in.
