The book "The Decline of Europe" is the main and most famous work of O. Spengler, a German thinker who in 1923 predicted the unification of Europe, categorically refused to recognize the West as the center of world history, moreover, denied the very notion of a unified history of mankind. Spengler put forward the concept of types of human culture, which like living organisms go through certain phases of development and eventually die, transforming into a barren mechanical civilization. The researcher identified eight major cultures - Egyptian, Indian, Babylonian, Chinese, "Apollonian" (Greco-Roman), "magical" (Byzantine-Arabic), "Faustian" (Western European) and Mayan culture - and predicted the birth of Russian-Siberian culture. In the author's opinion, since 1800 the transition of Western culture into civilization began, which should be completed, according to O. Spengler, by the year 2000.
