Jorge Luis Borges is one of the most famous writers of the twentieth century, who in many ways determined the shape of modern literature. Most of the great Argentinean's legacy is non-fiction prose: more than a thousand pages of essays, reviews, essays, prefaces, lectures, and all sorts of notes on a variety of topics. These works ("intellectual adventures", according to the author) are no less exciting reading than Borges' fiction prose. Like Aleph from his famous story - a magical point from which you can see everything that happens in the world - Borges' texts try to cover the whole universe: Dante and Shakespeare, Kabbalah and Buddhism, the history of angels and the history of tango, the mystery of time and fascism, movie reviews and biography of Swedenborg ... In a sense, this is where the true image of the writer manifests itself, his unique, slightly ironic voice of a bookish and wise man. This edition includes texts by Borges, covering the entire creative life of the author; the reader will find here, in addition to classic, well-known works, many reviews, notes, reflections and essays, never before published in Russian. The texts are accompanied by notes and a brief biography of Borges.
