While in the first book the heroes are only just beginning to make contact with the mysterious, otherworldly force that has visited our planet, in the following novels of the trilogy they enter into a decisive struggle with the consequences of a blind experiment imposed on us by aliens from without.
According to some readers, The Doomed City (1975) by the Strugatsky brothers is a replica of A. and S. Abramov's novel Paradise Without Memory. Perhaps, we won't argue.
