Buddy Threadgoode grew up in Whistle Stop, with his beautiful mother, Ruth, and his beloved aunt, the cheerful, mischievous Idgie. Ruth and Idgie ran a café adored by everyone in Whistle Stop, and beyond. But time knows no mercy, the town fell into disrepair, its residents dispersed, everything became overgrown with weeds, and the houses stood boarded up. Sadness and silence enveloped the once vibrant and cheerful Whistle Stop, turning it into a ghost town. Buddy had long since not only grown up but also grown old. And the desire to return to his happy past grew stronger, to walk just once more through the haunts of his childhood, to visit Whistle Stop, to stop by the café... And one day, he decided to escape to the place where he had been so happy, where the best people on earth lived.

He'll be joined on this nostalgic adventure by Fannie Flagg's other characters—cute, funny, charming, and so relatable. We're heading back to Whistle Stop for another round of fried green tomatoes.
