Danish writer Robert Zola Christensen (born 1964) creates works in very different genres: from books for children and detectives to poems and philosophical absurdist prose. "Balloons are forbidden" (2017) - the novel is multilayered: it is a story about the life of teachers at a Swedish university, and a fascinating love triangle with an unpredictable ending, and a symbolic narrative of modern life in Scandinavia. A special symbolic subtext is created in the book by the signs and tablets that the protagonist collects. He explores how differently the mentality of this or that country is reflected in the rules, warnings and prohibitions. The conclusion is disappointing: man has lost the ability and will to contemplation, he lives primarily in the world of the imperative, where there is no place for balloons. And the attempt to break free threatens to destroy personal life and career....
