The story in verse "That's how absent-minded" saw the light of day in 1930. By the number of reprints, this is the most popular work by Samuel Marshak. The expression "absent-minded from Basseinaya" immediately became a catchphrase and remains so to this day, although Basseinaya Street has long since disappeared in St. Petersburg (it was renamed Nekrasov Street). The prototype of the main character was the Soviet physicochemist I. A. Kablukov, who was famous for his impracticality and absent-mindedness. But some of Marshak's contemporaries saw in the "absent-minded" features of the author himself. The plot of the book is well known: a scattered man from Leningrad's Basseinaya Street puts on completely inappropriate things, then goes to the train station and sits in a detached car for two days, believing that the train is taking him to Moscow. Unlike other heroes of Marshak, who plan, saw, deliver mail, put out fires, this one is not assigned to any business. The image of the "absent-minded" is rather satirical, but thanks to Aminadav Kanevsky's illustrations, he looks like a cute and charming oddball. In addition, his "absent-minded" hero is very similar to the author - this is how Marshak looked in the thirties of the last century; it was with such a briefcase full of manuscripts, he went to work. The cognitive value of the book is undoubted. Deliberate distortion of the actions of the hero, "inverted" amuse the little reader. After all, he already has a modest worldly experience, and he knows that the frying pan - not clothes, and gloves are not put on your feet. In fact, "Scattered from Bassein Street" reinforces in the child the correct idea of the norm, teaches collectedness, calmness, prudence, otherwise you can do a hundred stupid things. And it is also important to listen to others, sometimes you can and consult with someone. After all, the main character was answered to his questions, but he heard only himself. Recommended for reading by adults to children. "The formula "scattered from the street Bassein" lived its own, separate from Marshakovsky poem life, entered the speech of different social strata, in the consciousness of many generations, became part of the Russian language. And the ridiculous antics of the oddball hero continue to delight today's children, as they pleased their first readers - the children of 1930. Other literary heroes of that time - in cars, on trains and airplanes - never managed to get out of their epoch, while Marshak's "absent-minded" in his detached carriage has reached our time and is safely rolling on.
