Dmitry Sergeevich Likhachev (1906-1999) was a scholar of the world, an outstanding literary scholar and cultural historian who survived many trials of the 20th century. The Revolution, the Red Terror, arrest because of a joke telegram, Solovetsky camp, war ... Seeing cruelty, suffering, death, Dmitry Sergeevich did not lose faith in man, in his spirituality and morality. "Memories" D. S. Likhachev - a tale of time, the events of past years, but above all - about the people who met him on the way, "about which, perhaps, no one else will never remember, about which lie documents."
The book also includes "Letters about the good" - a message of the great scientist and wise man to young readers: how to be kind, how to see the beauty in the world around us and ourselves, how to live a life worthy. Giving the simplest arguments, Dmitri Sergeyevich explains that "following the path of goodness is the most acceptable and the only way for a human being". The edition is illustrated with photographs depicting pre-revolutionary St. Petersburg, the life of prisoners of the Solovetsky camp, the Siege of Leningrad, as well as drawings by Dmitry Sergeevich from "Novgorod Album". The photo sequel contains materials from the family archive of D. S. Likhachev.
