Although William Henrikhovich Fischer (1903-1971) is the most famous Soviet intelligence officer of the postwar era, it is a name not very many people know. After all, he, the Soviet intelligence resident in the United States from 1948-1957, went down in history as Rudolf Ivanovich Abel. Much of the biography of the legendary spy is still under the "top secret". The book, expanded and supplemented with new materials, opens to the reader the most possible information about the life and work of William Fischer. Working on the book, the author, three times winner of the literary prize of the SVR of Russia, winner of the All-Russian Historical and Literary Prize of Alexander Nevsky, communicated with many people who knew William Heinrichovich. The narrative includes unique recollections of William Fischer's daughters, his colleagues - already deceased Heroes of Russia Vladimir Barkovsky, Leontina and Morris Cohen, as well as other famous spies, including those whose names are still "closed".
