Yuri Nikiforovich Danilov was a military leader, infantry general, and one of the main planners of the Russian army's strategic operations in 1914-1915. He is the author of military history works devoted to the Russian army's participation in World War I. His book is dedicated to Grand Duke Nicholas Nikolaevich the Younger, the first Russian Supreme Commander-in-Chief, who played a role in the events of the last reign. He was the man who led a vast army of five million men, a man responsible for defending a vast state. Millions of people, drawn from all corners of Russia, served in this army during the Grand Duke's tenure. Many contemporary figures considered Nicholas Nikolaevich a potential leader of Russian statehood, but he never became one. Nevertheless, he has gone down in the history of our country as a prominent figure in a tragic era. The publication outlines the goals and causes of the war, describes events on the battlefield, reflects on the role of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief, recounts events at the front and rear, and analyzes the relationships between the conflicting parties.
