Vazhenka is Ira Vazhina, the main character. Who is she? An impostor, a pretender, a liar, a criminal? Or a young girl who demands success and happiness from life?
Leningrad in the 80s. Ira Vazhina came here to enroll from Angarsk. "Just study, my daughter, and God forbid you fall out. Or get knocked up. Then life is over." That's what mom said. But Vazhenka, in her 20s, looks at life through a glass of champagne. This life - full of betrayal and agonizing search for happiness - fizzes and sparkles, dizzying head, but does not knock down, does not roll to death.
The heroine has the urge to act, to change masks, it's easier, the desire for a good other life, the desire to break away from the "bull" at any cost. Vazhenka collects the best of what she has seen, carefully and tirelessly, memorizes charming gestures and themes, and brilliantly implements all this in her own life. But youth and carelessness beats the reckoning: Vazhenka is kicked out of the institute, she lives illegally in a dormitory, deceives her mother, she is threatened with an article for idleness ... One meeting on a white night by the river solves all the problems at once. Mitya Averin, a young electronic engineer, falls in love with Vazhenka.
Fear of losing her newfound, fragile happiness pushes her to cross the last line. But is there life afterwards? After what she has done.
