A collection of short stories by the two-time Booker Prize winner.
Hilary Mantel has chosen a very vivid time for her collection - the birth of the "space age" and rock'n'roll, which is not surprising, because the stories are partly autobiographical. Everything begins in the 50's in the closed world of a factory village in the north of England, where children and adults together learn to live in the new, post-war world, then the children grow up, and then the 60's burst into their lives and London becomes the capital of the world and new music, full of freedom, hopes and promises, and in the 70's begins the punk revolution. And each character experiences this time in a different way, it is interesting to watch them all, and we even recognize ourselves in some of them.
