A small, quiet town. Rue Bonaparte, number 8, building A, second floor, the apartment to the left of the elevator. This is where eighty-two-year-old Ferdinan Brun has recently moved after his divorce: an unsociable misanthrope and skeptic, a man, according to his neighbors, with a murky past, who has earned the nickname Maniac Killer. He is especially hated by the local old ladies, who are used to grind the bones of all the residents and gossip in the yard from morning till night. The confrontation with the tenants passes the stage of cold war and risks to turn into a heated conflict, but then an eleven-year-old girl appears on his doorstep, who, like a tornado, bursts into his life and turns everything upside down. And it's the best thing that's happened to him in years.
