The Tango of Our Life. A Couple of Three
"Last year
we learned that our book was out of print. Suddenly I heard: 'Oh, we
haven't read it, can we at least get a copy?' And then I realized, our book
is no longer available. I felt hurt. Well, how could this be? People want to read about us,
then it needs to be there. And since we have this opportunity, it's better
to continue and publish it." The book Natalia Bestemyanova is talking about
was called "A Couple with Three." It was written in two stages, with
a ten-year interval between editions. So, the current approach is again a decade later,
but this time with a computer, not a typewriter—the third.
The biographies of the three great figure skaters continue; they are, as before, on the ice.
The Ice Miniatures Theater, created and made famous by them throughout the world, under the direction of Igor Bobrin,
has already celebrated its thirtieth anniversary, and the theater's star couple,
Olympic champions Natalia Bestemianova and Andrei Bukin, have been skating together for
more than forty years! A new production, "Ermiki," is coming soon (for those who don't know, the Hermitage cats are the official guardians of the museum's collection
from rodents). And this amazing ice ballet will be staged by the renowned
opera director Dmitry Bertman... So, again, this isn't the last chapter of the book;
there will be a continuation.
