A. A. Zdanovich's new work comprehensively explores the activities of the NKVD special departments and then Smersh bodies during the preparation and conduct of the Battle of Kursk. On the basis of archival documents, many of which are first introduced into scientific circulation, the author considers all aspects of counterintelligence activities, which managed to achieve significant success in the counterintelligence support of the Red Army. By means of active off-front activities and the organization of operational search they managed to neutralize to a serious degree the attempts of German intelligence, counterintelligence and police bodies to plant a massive network of agents in our rear and directly in the troops. With the help of radio games with the enemy's intelligence agencies in the headquarters of the enemy successfully transferred disinformation, which made it difficult for the latter to timely reveal the intentions and specific plans of the VGK Stavka, military councils of armies and fronts.
The book will be of interest to specialists in the history of intelligence services, as well as the general reader interested in the history of the Great Patriotic War.
