Saint Nicholas translated the Holy Scriptures and several liturgical books into Japanese, founded 266 communities of the Japanese Orthodox Church, a theological seminary, a library, and other institutions, and built numerous churches. The book was written in connection with the saint's glorification and published under the name of Archbishop Anthony (Melnikov) of Minsk in the journal "Theological Works" in 1975. During those years, Nadezhda Alexandrovna was forced to conceal her authorship of works dedicated to the preaching of Orthodoxy, lest she be expelled from the Union of Soviet Writers. Bishop Anthony (Melnikov), who knew her well, published several of Nadezhda Alexandrovna's works under his own name at her request.
