A holiday is a day of joy, celebration and fun, a day of liberation from everyday worries and an opportunity to remember that "man does not live by bread alone." A holiday unites people, introduces them to national values, strengthens the connection between generations, telling about traditions and customs.
In Rus', a holiday was considered the main event in the life of the people. On holidays, all types of work were canceled, except for urgent ones; people gathered together for games, dancing, singing songs, setting the table in anticipation of guests.
And to this day, bright holidays, secular and religious, unite us, leave vivid impressions, give us a sense of involvement and unity with history and the people.
