Konstantin Mikhailovich Simonov (1915–1979) was a renowned Soviet writer, author of the trilogy "The Living and the Dead," as well as many classic wartime poems ("Wait for Me," "Do You Remember, Alyosha, the Roads of Smolensk," and others).

During the Great Patriotic War, as a war correspondent, K.M. Simonov traveled to many fronts, from the Black Sea to the Barents Sea. The book "One Hundred Days of War" is based on the frontline notebooks he kept during the first months of the war. During the war, he edited them for literary purposes and dictated them to a stenographer. A quarter of a century later, immersed in archives, he carefully reviewed and commented on them.

Konstantin Mikhailovich's diaries allow us to immerse ourselves in the maelstrom of events during the first months of the war and glimpse the difficult daily life of war correspondents. The author tells truthfully and frankly about those who bore the first, most terrible blow of Hitler's troops.
