Ten years after the divorce of her parents, the daughter meets her father, a truck driver, and travels with him through central Russia and the southern regions. "Steppe" - a new novel by Oksana Vasyakina, which forms a dilogy together with the debut "Wound": the first book - about the daughter's farewell to her dead mother; the second - about her relationship with her father. Returning her thoughts to the cab of the truck rushing across the steppe, the heroine reflects on the men whose youth came in the 1980s-1990s, on the diseases from which many of them silently die, on how time exhaled the father, leaving on the cold wind of the future, on Russia, not knowing what to do with its own history. Oksana Vasyakina is a writer, winner of the Lyceum (2019) and NOS (2021) awards.
