This book is about the mysticism of dacha life, and "dacha" is a universal word. It is the name for a plot of land in a gardening (non-profit) partnership, which is shortened to SNT on signs, and a four-story country house, and a vegetable garden with a temporary structure tucked away in the corner. It was called by different names: an estate, a hacienda, or some kind of Monrepos. Three pillars support the life of a successful person: a dacha, an apartment, and a car. And of these, a piece of land separated from the world by a chain-link fence or a stone wall is the most important. It is where the soil and fate breathe. From the first steps among the tall grass to death between the beds with weeded grass clutched in a hand, it surrounds a Russian person. City laws do not apply in a gardening partnership; a special brotherhood or fierce hostility arises there, when a neighbor is ready to go to his neighbor with a scythe for a shadow that fell on a greenhouse with tomatoes. The heroes of this book are different people, there are academics, journalists, and businessmen, but they are united by one thing — the dacha. And at the dacha, everything is possible: a dead meeting of KSP members suddenly comes to life in the forest, a magical object, a zacher, hidden from prying eyes in the basement, transforms time and space, and a nice married couple next door grow pumpkins to turn them into prisons for souls. Vladimir Berezina is a prose writer, literary scholar, journalist. Author of realistic and fantastic prose, a biography of Viktor Shklovsky. Laureate of the Novy Mir magazine award, the A. and B. Strugatsky award, the Moskovsky Observer award, a finalist of the Bolshaya Kniga award and others.
