Memories of Euphrosyne Kersnovskaya (1907-1994) “How Much is a Man Worth” is one of the most amazing memoirs of the 20th century. This is an almost unbelievable story about a duel with a totalitarian state and about how one can emerge victorious from this duel. Kersnovskaya had to endure 20 years of exile, prisons, camps, but the deprivations and ordeals did not break her.
The book tells of strength and helplessness, suffering and humiliation, despair, death and blood. But you close it with a feeling of light and faith that a person can remain a person in all circumstances – and “not give up a single bit of his face, but be alive, alive and only, alive and only until the end.”
The publication contains a color insert with 32 of the author's watercolor drawings, created as illustrations for the book of memoirs, as well as an article "About the Author", which tells about the fate of Kersnovskaya and the history of the writing of the book.
