Olbia is one of the main centers of Greek colonization of the Northern Black Sea coast. The military history and military affairs of this colony have never been the subject of a special scientific study. The monograph for the first time covers these major issues of the development of the ancient Greek city-state on the edge of the oikumene from the moment of its emergence to its death under the onslaught of barbarian tribes (VI century B.C. - IV century A.D.). All available data of ancient historians about the military history of Olbia (Herodotus, Strabo, Dion Chrysostomus, etc.) as well as archaeological materials concerning the city and its surroundings are analyzed. The monograph is intended for all those interested in the military history of the distant past of Southeastern Europe.
