A five-year-old boy is brought in to see a psychologist: Kostya claims to be a prisoner of Rear Admiral Sato, commander of a punitive corps. His freedom is limited: he is forced to live according to a certain daily schedule, wear tights and eat broccoli. At the same time, he is surprisingly collected and erudite for his age, and his sense of humor is not at all childish. The events of the novel unfold over the course of twelve years - up to the adulthood of the protagonist. The reader will have to figure out: is Kostya suffering from dissociative identity disorder - or does Sato really exist?
