This book by Igor Fedorovich Tsvetkov, Doctor of Historical Sciences, Professor, and Honored Scientist of the Russian Federation, is dedicated to the submarines of the Russian Navy built between 1905 and 1911. It is a continuation of G. M. Trusov's book, "The First Russian Submarines."
The book opens with the biography of Ivan Grigorievich Bubnov, a designer of "Russian-type" submarines, whose name is inextricably linked with the birth and development of submarine construction in Russia. His biography is essentially a history of submarine construction in Russia between 1900 and 1917. The book covers in detail the development of submarine design specifications, their design and equipment, the construction and acceptance testing process, as well as their operation and combat operations.
The reader will become acquainted with the Cayman-class submarines and the one-off submarines "Pochtovy," "Krab," "Minoga," and "Akula," learn about the Navy Ministry's technical policy in submarine construction, and discover unknown aspects of the naval officials' efforts to order submarines from abroad.
The book is intended for both shipbuilding specialists and submariners, as well as a general readership interested in the history of naval technology and the navy.
