For the first time in Russian, a commented translation of Flos Duellatorum, one of the earliest treatises on the martial arts of medieval Europe, is published. The manuscript is preceded by an essay about its author, the fencing master Fiore of Premariacco, who lived at the end of the 14th century, his fate and era, weapons and ways of training warriors. Fiore not only described the techniques known to him, but also compiled a methodology and scheme of training in the art of combat - from unarmed fighting to dueling on horseback. His work allows not only to get an idea of how the warriors of the Middle Ages acted, but also to use the book as a guide for historical fencing classes and reconstruction of European martial arts.
