The album introduces jewelry that was a part of Russian folk costume. The basis of the publication is the collection of the Russian Ethnographic Museum (St. Petersburg). The museum's collection includes jewelry of the 18th-20th centuries, used by peasants in the Russian North, North-West, Central Russia, southern and south-western regions, the Volga region, the Urals, and Siberia.
The book demonstrates unique neck, breast and back jewelry of different shapes and designs, made in various techniques from a variety of materials. Among the techniques described are whitewashing, gold embroidery, embroidery, threading, weaving and others. Most of the items are published for the first time. According to the results of the All-Russian contest of the Association of Book Publishers of Russia "Best Books of the Year-2016", the album "Russian Folk Jewelry" by Elena Madlevskaya became the winner in the nomination "Best Book about Russia". In 2017, the album "Russian Folk Jewelry" became a diploma winner of the annual national contest "Book of the Year-2017" in the nomination "Russia Reserved".
