Mustai Karim (1919-2005) was a remarkable Bashkir writer, poet and playwright whose works are well known not only in his homeland: they have been translated into dozens of languages. Karim's creative heritage is vast and diverse, and he is widely known for his novels "The Joy of Our Home", "Taganok" and the autobiographical story "Long-Long Childhood". In them the writer turns to the theme of childhood. Imbued with national coloring, these works sound truly international, they are close and understandable to everyone. Their heroes, sometimes naive, sometimes funny, despite their young age and severe trials, retain their mental purity, dignity, faith in goodness and mercy.
