Farewell, ghosts

Thirty-six-year-old Ida is married, a longtime resident of Rome, and works in radio. Ida's mother, who has stayed in Messina all these years, wants to sell their old house. She asks her daughter to come and decide what to keep and what to throw away. Once in her hometown, Ida feels with renewed vigor the pain of loss she suffered years ago when her father left home one morning and never returned. The ominous reticence between mother and daughter, the strange friendship that brings only devastation, the feeling of abandonment, the complications in her relationship with her husband - the experiences are vivid and painful in her childhood home, where, after her father's disappearance, she grew up a willless creature living in constant fear. She realizes that the time has come to deal with the ghosts besieging her soul and find a way out of this vicious circle.
