Ghosts of the house on Gorky Street

The fourth-floor apartment at 9 Gorky Street had kept its secrets even before the Kreschenskys had moved in: a mysterious and unsolved murder had mysteriously affected the lives of the new residents. Grandmother Lida was sure that the closet was haunted by a ghost, and the tenth-grader Katya and her school friend Irka did not miss the opportunity to hunt together at night for this apartment devil.
But this is so, trifles, because in the seventies here, in the house on Gorky, in addition to the ghost, already had a "pleasant human content": famous neighbors - Bondarchuk, Efremov, Basov, a lot of other actors, directors, physicists and other talents; next to the central Moscow stores, and from the outermost window of the apartment you could see the edge of the Historical Museum and a little bit of Red Square. A slyly squinting Lenin from the huge street poster of the Central Telegraph opposite her window looked into Katya's room. An autobiographical novel by Robert Rozhdestvensky's daughter, revealing to the reader a vivid and eventful family life, where there was room for adventure, books, love, study, marriage and great tragedy.
