Yefim Chepovetsky's interest in children's literature was instilled in him by his teachers, Samuil Marshak and Lev Kassil. Under their influence, a recognizable literary style of the writer was formed, and wonderful books appeared - cheerful, ironic, but at the same time imbued with kindness and great love for children. And one of the most famous is rightly considered to be the story "The Adventures of Chess Soldier Peshkin", the main characters of which are cheerful and brave chess pieces. In the chess kingdom-state live two armies - white and black, ready at any moment to engage in battle. And so, when the soldier Peshkin was sent on a secret operation - to free the chick Pyzhik from the mousetrap - the spies immediately reported it to the enemy king. A detachment of stern black figures was sent after Peshkin. However, no enemies' intrigues can prevent the brave soldier from fulfilling his combat mission and saving young Pyshkin. After all, kindness and courage, friendship and mutual support always destroy any insidious plans. For children of primary school age.
