Latin American modernism is a literary movement that existed in the Spanish-speaking countries of the New World in the last twenty years of the 19th and first twenty years of the 20th century. In the second half of the nineteenth century, poetry in Latin America was in crisis; the tone was set by the epigones of Romanticism, which had long since died out in European literatures. Modernists introduced new forms, rhythms, and themes into Spanish-language poetry. Passionate devotees of beauty, they were able to combine the word with music and painting. And they were the first Latin American writers whose work became world-famous. The recognized leader of Latin American modernism was Nicaraguan Ruben Dario. He managed to unite young poets from different countries into a creative community. This had an extremely beneficial effect on the further development of each national literature of the Latin American continent. Modernists in many respects were literary teachers and Borges, and Cortázar, and Garcia Marquez. .In our country, the work of the most prominent modernist poets is well known. For example, books by Rubén Darío and José Martí have been repeatedly published in Russia.
