By analogy with Pushkin's golden age, the era at the turn of the XNUMXth and XNUMXth centuries was called the Silver Age and was marked by the appearance of an unprecedented number of bright names in Russian poetry: Balmont and Bryusov, Gippius and Merezhkovsky, Sologub and Annensky, Blok and Akhmatova, Gumilyov and Mandelstam, Tsvetaeva and Pasternak, Yesenin and Mayakovsky and dozens of others. But not only a great variety of poetic talents gave rise to this era. The Silver Age was characterized by a special romantic worldview, an amazing atmosphere, which became a reflection of the spiritual upsurge and new trends that affected both Russian literature and Russian painting, philosophy, music and theater - it was a real "cultural renaissance", as Nikolai Berdyaev wrote. In this anthology, the brightest poets of the Silver Age are presented with sufficient completeness, whose work has passed the test of time and has become the property of not only the era of the past, but also part of Russian literature as a whole.
