It was the Iberian War of 1807-1814 that proved to be the longest military conflict of Napoleonic France. It lasted almost seven years, forced Napoleon to wage a ruinous war on two fronts and led to the depletion of the resources of the empire, which was impossible to fully compensate for in other theaters of war.
This collection presents fragments of memoirs of about six dozen authors who, by the will of fate, found themselves at the beginning of the XIX century in the territory of Spain and Portugal. The meticulous pen of these memoirists reached literally all the events of the difficult war, as well as the places where decisions were made that determined the fate of individuals and armies of thousands, remote villages and entire countries.
