Squad of Thugs. Mission "Alsos", or Who Prevented the Nazis from Creating an Atomic Bomb

Imagine if Nazi Germany had developed the first atomic bomb. At the beginning of World War II, Germany was far ahead of its allies in nuclear research: the Uranium Club was established two years ahead of the Manhattan Project. Fear of the German nuclear project was so great that some expected an atomic bombing of London as early as the end of 1943. Therefore, it was fought on different fronts and by different people. Irene Joliot-Curie hid radium from the Germans who had invaded France (as her mother Maria had done in World War I). The editor of a German scientific journal was siphoning information from physicists and engineers and passing it on to the West. Britain was dropping in special forces to blow up a heavy water plant in occupied Norway. The brother of future U.S. President Kennedy was training to fly an explosives-laden airplane; with the help of primitive electronics, it was supposed to crash into bunkers for Faou missiles, which were thought to carry atomic charges. And after the Allies landed on the continent, a former White Guard, a baseball player, and a friend of the chief physicist of the Uranium Club were on the hunt for German scientists.
