For 350 years, from the 13th to the middle of the 16th century, the German (Teutonic) Order dominated the Baltic. Three centuries passed in wars with Poland, the Grand Duchy of Lithuania, Novgorod and Pskov. In the XVI century comes a fateful time for the Germanic chivalry: in 1525, under the onslaught of Poland fell the older, Prussian branch of the Order. Instead of equal in strength Novgorod and Pskov republics, the new enemy of the younger, Livonian branch of the German Order is a powerful, united Russian state. The countdown of the last days of the state of the northern crusaders begins. The book tells about the fate of Livonia in the XIV-mid XVI century, the history of its prosperity and death in 1561-1562.
