Life goes on as usual on the small fishing island of Himakajima in Mikawa Bay. Tourists are rare here, there are few attractions, but there is plenty of local color. A young economist from Russia, Alexander, immerses himself in this unusual, surprising for a foreigner way of life. He will not be bored - on the island he meets the mysterious Kisho Kamata, a waiter from a local restaurant, and finds himself drawn into a strange series of events, relationships and mysterious deaths involving the island's inhabitants and his former colleagues at work. What have the ancient deities prepared for people and are the frightening legends told by local fishermen true? Will the heroes be able to change their fate, listen to their own hearts, understand what is truly priceless and what is only water dust crumbling in the impenetrable darkness, and clay shards of a broken octopus trap...
