The book is devoted to the history of armored trains in Russia from the beginning of the twentieth century to the end of the First World War. It was written primarily using archival documents, some of which were first introduced into scientific circulation. The work tells in detail about the prerequisites for the emergence of armored trains in our country, the first realized and unrealized projects, the construction of armored trains during the First World War, their combat use and changing views on their use in combat. There is also brief biographical information about people who contributed to the development of armored train business in our country in the early twentieth century. The history of creation and combat path of all armored train units of the Russian army during the First World War, as well as their further fate during the Russian Civil War is considered in detail. The book is illustrated with a large number of photographs and drawings, some of which are published for the first time.
