Ordo Teutonicus. German Order

The book is devoted to the history of the German (Teutonic) Order - from the beginning of its foundation in 1190 and its formation since 1198 as a spiritual-knight association. The book shows the armed struggle of the Order with Muslims and pagans in Palestine, Hungary and Spain. Special attention is paid to its fate in Prussia and Livonia. Along with the fighting, the structure of the Order, both territorial and internal, its hierarchy and statutes, as well as the internal and foreign policy of the unique Order state created in Prussia are presented. After the defeat at Tannenberg (Grunewald) in 1410, which undermined its financial and moral state, the Order declined in Prussia, ending in 1525 with secularization. The final part of the work describes the transformation of the Order of Chivalry into a clerical order. The book is equipped with a large reference apparatus, accompanied by illustrations and maps.
