Actor and director Oleg Nikolayevich Yefremov is a fantastically famous man. In 1956, he created the theater "Sovremennik", and from 1970 to 2000 he headed the main theater of the twentieth century, the Moscow Art Theater. Nationwide love brought him numerous roles in the movies. His name is wrapped in legends, many consider him the face of his time.
Soviet mythology is now in vogue. Adults remember each his own, young - draw information about the USSR from TV programs and prints on T-shirts. Efremov, himself already a legend, in his youth also went through the Soviet myth, but from the inside: he lived and created in the twentieth century. To understand Efremov's star-tragic path means to come closer to understanding the Soviet Union and the reasons for its collapse. Documentary novel-dialogue Elena Chernikova "Oleg Efremov: Man-theater" is addressed not only to fans of Efremov, but also to the younger generation, which this name is not much to say. The reader will find here a lot of information about Soviet times, about theater life, about the behavior of a creative man in a critical era.
