Meredith is used to being alone. She hasn't left the house for three years, doesn't talk to her mother and older sister, and tries not to think about the past. Meredith works remotely. She orders everything she needs delivered. Keeps the house perfectly clean. She cooks a lot of good food. Reads, watches old movies, puts together puzzles, admires the cherry tree in the neighbor's yard. At Christmas, she decorates the tree and puts presents under it. Meredith doesn't feel lonely. She has a friend Sadie, who comes to visit with her children and talks about her tumultuous personal life. There is a wonderful red cat Fred, who cozily curls up in a ball on the lap of the mistress. There is even a psychologist who gives her strange "homework" once a week. Meredith does not intend to change anything, because change has never brought her happiness. But soon there will be people, plans and hopes in her life, for the sake of which she will try to leave the house.
