The memoirs of General A.S. Lukomsky cover his entire life path from his enrollment in a military gymnasium to the end of the Civil War. The memoirs of Lukomsky, who by the beginning of World War I held the highest staff positions in the active army, contain invaluable information about the events of the Revolutionary War, the birth of the Volunteer Army and the evacuation from Novorossiysk. In his memoirs Lukomsky touches not only military issues, quite a lot of space is given to everyday descriptions, especially hunting, as well as the characterization of individuals in the Russian army and prominent representatives of the White Movement. The essay about the trip to the Far East included in this edition is published for the first time. This part of the memoirs contains much curious information about Japan and China in the first third of the twentieth century.
