In the hundredth anniversary year of the monstrous execution of the royal family in Yekaterinburg, the publishing house "New Heaven" undertakes the first separate edition in Russia of the letters of Empress Alexandra Feodorovna Romanova to Emperor Nicholas II. 404 letters cover the period from July 1914 to December 17, 1916. The lively characters of the participants in the correspondence and the complex circumstances of the time were reflected in the letters - witnesses of the tragic era of the death of the Russian Empire.
This corpus of letters was first published in Berlin in 1922 by the Russian émigré publishing house Slovo. The original language of the letters is English, and they were printed in two volumes simultaneously in English and Russian, translated by V.D. Nabokov. The present edition omits the index of names appended to the second volume of the Berlin edition; corrections to the text at the end of the second volume have been made to the corresponding places in the letters.
