Sergey Dovlatov is one of the most popular and readable Russian writers of the late twentieth and early twenty-first centuries. His novels, stories, notebooks have been translated into many languages, screened, studied in schools and universities. Surprisingly funny and at the same time piercingly sad prose Dovlatov has long become a classic and relates the writer with such masters of tragicomic prose, such as A. Chekhov, Taffy, A. Averchenko, M. Zoshchenko. Twelve chapters of "Ours" were created by Dovlatov in the early 1980s as independent stories. These are twelve funny, light stories, in which sounds "soft music of common sense" (I. Brodsky), which helps us to preserve our dignity in the most unbelievable situations of life.
