Vasily Pavlovich Aksyonov is a recognized classic and a cult figure of Russian literature. His works are well known not only in Russia but also abroad. Success came to Aksenov back in the 1960s - responding with brilliant prose to the most complex and topical themes, he remained the voice of his generation for decades. Among the favorite works of Aksenov - trilogy "Moscow Saga", written in the early 1990s and screened in 2004. The trilogy consisted of the novels "Winter Generation", "War and Prison", "Prison and Peace". Their action covers almost the most terrible period in Russian history of the twentieth century - from the early twenties to the early fifties. The Gradov family, three generations of Russian intellectuals, goes through all the circles of hell of the Stalin era - the struggle against Trotskyism, collectivization, camps, the war against fascism, post-war repression.
