Obolensky, Vladimir Andreevich, Prince (1869-1950) - public and political figure, one of the prominent representatives of the Cadet Party, joined the "Union of Liberation". He took a prominent position in the Constitutional Democratic Party, was elected as a deputy of the 1st State Duma from the Tauride Province. This edition publishes for the first time the memoirs of Obolensky, written in 1937 for the Russian Historical Archive in Prague, and now kept in the State Archives of the Russian Federation. In his memoirs, the prince provides interesting details from the life of socialist circles, political emigration of the early 20th century, the zemstvo, the Cadet Party, the 1st State Duma, and the White movement. The author presents a whole gallery of public and political figures of the era: F.F. Kokoshkin, P.N. Milyukov, S.A. Muromtsev, V.D. Nabokov, I.I. Petrunkevich, F.I. Rodichev, P.B. Struve and many others. Distinctive features of Obolensky's memoirs are colorful sketches, everyday details, detailed portraits of contemporaries. The text is provided with comments and an introduction and is addressed to both specialists and a wide range of readers.
