Mikhail Shemyakin is a painter, sculptor, graphic artist, art historian and analyst, teacher, and director of ballet and dramatic performances and theatrical actions. He is known in Russia for his monuments to Peter the Great in St. Petersburg and "Children are Victims of Adult Vices" in Moscow, and for his production of the ballet The Nutcracker at the Mariinsky Theater. He lives and works in France.
The book "My Life" is the first part of the master's autobiography: from his birth in Moscow in 1943 to his exile from the country in 1971. "These are the notes of a man grateful to fate, difficult, anxious, dangerous and - in spite of everything - a wonderful time, not quite ordinary parents, amazing people with whom I met, as well as hardships, blows, falls and deprivation. All this sharpened my perception, hardened my soul and brought up the character of a fighter, a soldier and a man forever devoted to the chosen cause, taught me to pay attention to people, the ability to appreciate their merits and put up with their shortcomings.
