Nadezhda Alexandrovna Taffy (1872-1952) - "the queen of Russian humor", author of literary parodies, feuilletons, poems, an enigmatic and intelligent woman who all her life created her autobiographical legend, her image in literature. She was so popular that perfume and candy were named after her. She was admired by everyone from Nicholas II to Lenin.
Taffy survived three revolutions, two world wars, saw the horrors of the XX century, but retained a sensitive heart, the ability to laugh in a desperate situation. Leaving Russia, Taffy wrote memoirs - the story of her farewell to her homeland, stretching for a year and a half. The book also includes autobiographical feuilletons "My Pseudonym", "First Visit to the Editorial Office" and a collection of memoir essays "My Chronicle" about famous (Balmont, Averchenko, Rasputin, Repin) and little-known (Fondaminsky, Panteleimonov) people of that time, with whom Taffy was acquainted and who played an important role in the fate of Russia or in the life of the writer herself. With a smile and tact she describes each person, trying to understand, to see a living soul. N. Taffy's memories and "chronicles" are a fortress of memory about people and events, a journey into the depths of the human heart.
