The collection of stories by Vaclav Mikhalski, winner of the Russian Federation State Prize for Literature (2003), "In Passing," includes works written over nearly two and a half decades of the new century. Collected together now, after his passing, they form a unique recollection of the writer's brightest youth, encounters with loved ones, and his own creative works—short stories, novellas, and novels. "I've never written memoirs in my life," the author admitted in one of his stories, "but now I've done it, and it seems worth it."

The collection concludes with a conversation between Vaclav Mikhalski and literary scholar Yuri Pavlov, dedicated to Valentin Kataev.

Designed for readers who love and appreciate precise, pithy words and profound thought, as well as the classical traditions of Russian literature.
