To the attention of readers is offered a fundamental multivolume reference manual on mechanisms in modern engineering, authored by the outstanding Soviet scientist-mechanic I.I.Artobolevsky. In the selection of mechanisms are given mainly schemes and descriptions of mechanisms of general purpose, or mechanisms used in a variety of branches of mechanical engineering. Separate mechanisms of target, branch direction were also included in the reference book as being of interest not only for this narrow branch, but also for other branches of mechanical engineering. Each mechanism diagram is accompanied by its brief description.
The sixth and seventh volumes of the manual, dealing with electrical (sixth volume), hydraulic and pneumatic (seventh volume) mechanisms, are included in the present edition. The simplest, lever, gear, and complex mechanisms of all three types, mechanisms with elastic links, and, at the beginning of the seventh volume, elements of hydraulic and pneumatic mechanisms are described. Tables of classification of mechanisms of the sixth and seventh volumes by structural and structural features and functional purpose are given.
The book is recommended primarily for engineers, designers and inventors. It will also be useful for teachers, graduate students and students of mechanical and engineering specialties.
