The text of the Tractatus Logico-Philosophicus can hardly be called voluminous, but it is difficult to overestimate its importance for all subsequent European philosophy, and brevity in this case speaks only of how concisely, clearly and precisely Wittgenstein formulated his thought. Seven short theses and a little over a hundred pages of commentary on them... but in this minimal volume Wittgenstein managed to fit a translation into philosophical language of all the main ideas of logical analysis.
"In the beginning was the Word," says the Bible, and if this is true, Wittgenstein was one of the Logos' most devoted disciples.
